Organizational Statement

Premise: Wal-Mart, the largest corporation in the world, aggressively pursues a business model that is destructive to the economic, social, and environmental fabric of our Central Oregon communities, the state, America, and the planet.

Who We Are: A diverse, motivated, and dynamic group of concerned Central Oregonians including: business people, labor activists, neighbors, environmentalists, land use & transportation activists, and ordinary citizens. The breadth of our task force indicates the depth of opposition to another Wal-Mart in Central Oregon.

Our Goals:

1. To stop the siting of a Wal-Mart Superstore in Central Oregon;
2. To foster an economically, socially, and environmentally vital community that works together to sustain & expand local business, protect & create living wage jobs, preserve our neighborhoods, improve the environment, and insure economic security for all our citizens; and
3. To sustain our energy for the long haul, by having fun while working to put our community first!
